Yes, you can view your child's progress and we'll recommend where to do so based on their lesson location, but we really encourage you to do so out of sight of the child. Typically children settle into the routine and happily follow along with their peers as soon as the parent is gone. Naturally some children get upset in their first lessons when they are in a new environment, but our instructors are highly trained to work with your child and we have often found that often a parents presence causes a distraction.
Feel free to discuss your concerns with staff, however there are some things you can do to help prepare your child for ski school:
- Ensure they are dressed in warm and waterproof clothing, winter gloves, a ski helmet and well-fitted goggles.
- Dress them appropriately for the weather that day where they will be comfortable but not to the point of overheating.
Jackets with ventilation are great for controlling heat.
For prolonged sunny days they will need sunscreen on exposed skin.
Let them practice walking in their skis and boots before arriving at ski school. Familiarity with their equipment is very beneficial.
Arrive early with all equipment checked to reduce time standing around. Allow time to say goodbye and keep handover short and sweet. Ensure they are wearing their boots so you are not having to change into them when they may be distressed. Ensure they have their lift ticket, if needed. Naturally if any child appears distressed or unwell, we will attempt to notify parents immediately. Sometimes they may spend a little extra time indoors until they settle down.
